This beautiful suffragette scarf is made from a blend of silk and modal making it very soft and delicate. When I launched my British suffragette scarf (sylvia) I didn't know that the suffragette movement in America adopted slightly different colours. The American suffragette's decided to keep purple and white but they replaced green with gold to represent the sunflower which was used in the 1867 suffrage referendum campaign. Eventually, gold took on a new meaning relating to the suffragette movement: white for purity, purple for loyalty and gold for hope.
